Sánchez sends a letter to the membership denouncing a "moral demolition" operation.

The Secretary General of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) and President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has sent a letter to the party's membership following the crisis triggered by the resignation of former Organization Secretary Santos Cerdán. In this letter, he asserts that the party will continue, denounces the "moral demolition" the socialists are facing, and proposes a debate against corruption.

In a letter bearing the PSOE logo, Sánchez shares the feelings of "pain, indignation, and a mixture of bewilderment and sadness" that, in his opinion, the UCO report that identifies Cerdán as the recipient of bribes has provoked within the PSOE ranks.

"The suspicion that colleagues who held high positions have betrayed the trust of this party and the citizens is a wound that hurts us all," said Sánchez, who defended their "forceful" actions and called for "the immediate resignation of anyone involved."

He also insisted that he didn't learn of the UCO report until the morning of June 12th and believes that this "speaks to the democratic health" of the country because the Executive does not interfere in judicial investigations "as it did for much of the last decade," he said, referring to the PP government.
